Stereo Cabinet

I brought our WiFi-Ranger, WeBoost, SiriusXM and MiFi (hot spot) from Dora (our Escape) over to Sassy. I mounted the WiFi-Ranger and WeBoost in the cabinet holding the stereo.

I made a new front panel moving the stereo to the left. That gave room for two switches for the WiFi-Ranger and WeBoost. The SiriusXM and MiFi are mounted over the stereo. The SiriusXM is a car mount which allows the "head" to be moved into our house for music there. A USB plug over the switches feeds the MiFi. Fairly clean on the outside, but a mess of wires on the inside.

I needed to get wires onto the roof for the AM/FM, WeBoost and SiriusXM antennas. Finally decided to enlarge the existing hole used for the AM/FM antenna for these new wires. Then put a waterproof box over the hole and route wires from it through waterproof glands. That works for the WeBoost while the AM/FM and SiriusXM antennas are mount on top of the box lid.

One gland in the roof box was used for the external WeBoost antenna. The cable was run along the roof to the TV antenna. The WeBoost antenna was mounted on the TV antenna.

All in all the SiriusXM works better with the external antenna. The WeBoost improves the signal by about one bar. Both nice to have.

The stereo died on us and was repaced. The replacement works much better but I could not find anything to fit the space which had an intergral DVD player. Thus, we lost the ability to play DVDs to the TV. Not too big a deal as most movies are now streamed. The old, and new, stereos have an AUX plug on the front panel. This allows external sources like cell phones and players can be connected. However, few new electronics have an audio plug. This new stereo has bluetooth but hasn't been used as yet.

Starlink

When we obtained a Starlink system it was also installed. The cable was routed through a gland in the roof box. Outside it was strung along the roof to the back ladder and down to a waterproof box. The cable enters the box via a waterproof gland and then through another removable gland. A Flag Pole Buddy mast and Starlink antenna are mounted to the ladder. The cable follows the pole up to attach to the antenna. For travel the cable from the antenna is pulled back into the box and the hole is sealed.

Inside the cable travels through the front cabinet to the modem on the front passengers side. A small shelf was added for the modem along with a 120v outlet.

Starlink is expensive Internet, but many times it's the only way to get reasonably fast Internet. Where we winter the RV Park provides WiFi but it is very slow and unreliable. As the Park fills up for the winter the WiFi gets slower. Most RV Park WiFi is slow, many to the point of being unusable. Cellular connections are good but many places, the places we like best, have no cell signal. So a thumbs up for Starlink.

Programmable Thermostat

The thermostat was changed out for a time of day unit. Much nicer for longer term stays.

USB Charging Plugs

I put USB charging plugs in the bedroom cabinets. These are great for charging cell phones, Kindles, etc at night. Very low draw so power was taken from the reading lights.
